Came across this super cool project by Argentinian artist Irina Werning, which hopefully I will be able to participate in come spring. I love the idea of recreating these quotidien scenes of the past. One of the things that strikes me the most is how the subjects were able to find nearly identical fabrics/silhouettes in which to recreate the costume of the day. The three Rs always win. One of the reasons I wanted to start this up again is because of my new boss, new job, and new found exposure to super cool brands and stores. In Paris during fashion week I discovered a new-ish jewelry brand from the former jewelry designer of Lanvin, Ligia Dias. Not a major departure from her previous style or material, I still love this stuff.

Ligia Dias is available at Madison in LA and Opening Ceremony. No word on when there will be more on her website.

La Femme Invisible returns.

A few encouraging words can go a long way in terms of kicking my ass into action again. Umar, no idea who you are, but thanks.

The last couple of months have been a whirlwind of life changes and I have neglected my poor little tangle. My page needs to be oiled. Hopefully I will maintain a more regular posting schedule for the four people who regularly check up on me.

In the meantime, check out the Facebook page and art project of my BFF Antonia. It’s sort of a commentary on Facebook and how we “deface” our identities in addition to constructing new ones. She goes around staging these blank events where she brings masks and hands them out (yes, she is that girl, always handing out creepy blank masks), and just sort of lets things happen. I have participated in a few and it’s interesting to see how people change when they put the mask on. Not to mention the photos are totally disturbing and amazing. Also look at White Families series on her website, which is a similar theme with portraits of families with faces completely blanched out.

The two below are my absolute favorites. Not party shots, but no less interesting in styling and set direction. I love the rich, bright colors, textures, and patterns contrasted with the completely emotionless, featureless face. These are from an album appropriately titled ME ME ME.
