high-rise hostess!

I am so flattered to be mentioned in a High-Rise Hostess article about NYC’s fabulous hosts! I don’t think I am quite there yet but I loved reading about City Magazine‘s Renee Lucas. Keep checking her blog for more tips in the upcoming weeks!

party time!

I don’t care if everyone is partied out from the holidays. We need to keep up our spirits and I just discovered the perfect blog to hook us up. High-Rise Hostess has amazing do-it-yourself tips for entertaining at home. This weekend I had the the pleasure of combating the no-picture policy at Monkey Bar and toasting champagne coupes at the Boom Boom Room with this hostess with the mostess. I’m making it my resolution to balance my other resolution (more yoga) with plenty of eating, drinking, and merriment.

monkeying around

On my way to Monkey Bar. I wonder if we will make it into the pit?

what to wear?

This morning the heavens opened up and dropped down an invitation to dinner at Le Cirque. Since reading Garlic + Sapphires I have been curious to go there and I am really excited! Just need to figure out what to wear. It needs to be sophisticated but fun and befitting a night uptown. I might just wear an LBD and some big hair. Decisions, decisions.

GQ fashion bites

I am absolutely swamped with work (I have a job) but I had to update you with some bits and pieces of last night’s GQ Gentlemen’s Ball. Most fashion-y events I go to are pretty standard – DJ, booze, C-list celebrities from The City and VH1 reality shows, occasionally someone fabulous I am truly excited to see (Oscar De La Renta and Anna Wintour at Fashion’s Night Out, for example). There were no mega-personalities in attendance last night with the exception of Demi Moore (I know I am the millionth person to day this but yes she looks even more gorgeous and flawless in person, and she is a twig. A really glamorous twig.), but the legions of hot people had me in a tizzy.

I saw many interesting ensembles (and some new trends I am not that excited about) which I can’t wait to share but for now you will have to content yourselves with some good old-fashioned gossip. In a sea of tuxedos and sartorial wonders, Marky Mark showed up in a t-shirt. God I love Boston. Chanel Iman wins for best-dressed of the night and her fluffy ponytail made me want to tease my hair, slick it back, and sport one right now (braid was a huge hit btw). Olivia Palermo (The City starlet, check) brushed by Jamie Burke, who looked hipsterish as usual in some 14-year-old’s burgundy velvet blazer but sans his little hobo friend; Emmy Rossum chatting closely with Carter from GG, who my friends were obsessed with but who I thought looked like a funhouse Robert Pattinson); Adrian Grenier with an eh date; and Josh Lucas and Ashton looking fine. Kid Cudi warmed everyone up with Day + Night (that’s the only song anyone knows anyway, right?) and Akon left us dancing the night away and singing along to every one of his hit songs, finishing up with his version of MJ’s Wanna Be Startin’ Something. Very fun indeed. I didn’t want to be too stalkerish but I did get some pics. More soon!
